Working on our WOW (Word of Wisdom)

Working on our WOW (Word of Wisdom)

A very uplifting evening.

Sister Becky Adams shared thoughts on depression. She referenced Elder Holland's talk from the October 2013 General Conference and from her practice as a Family Practice Medical Doctor.

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland "Like a Broken Vessel."

We live in a fallen world and will be tested time and time again. Difficult times can trigger changes in the brain. There is no shame in this. Recognize it as a health issue. Talk with a friend, family member, a doctor. Watch your self-talk. Much of our self-talk is devastating. We would never say many of the things we say to ourselves to others. We fall into negative patterns. We need to be thoughtful of the way we think. Watch for stress indicators, make adjustments. Be willing to ask for and to give help. Show gratitude. If your condition is more debilitating--seek help!

We also tried a little yoga led by Angie (Becky's sister-in-law) and learned some good nutritional tips from Angie Kelley.
